Longstitch Album

In this workshop we will learn how to make an album with square spine and longstitch binding. Albums are different from books because we need to create a kind of offset in the spine so we can put the photos without the book opening. In this course we will learn how to calculate this offset, to coat the cover with fabric and create unique seams.

Coptic Stitch

In this workshop we will learn all the details to make the Coptic Stitch seam perfect! This technique is very famous around the world for being incredibly resistant, offering a great opening and a very special aesthetic result. In addition to learning a variety of coating techniques from a hardcover book with papers and fabrics, we will focus on sewing with paired needles.

Sewn Boards

In this workshop we will learn how to bind a book with a semi-flexible bound cover and square spine with different materials. A structure with a 180-degree opening that uses little adhesive, making it a type of binding that is easy and quick to execute, avoiding the use of press and warping, but with an incredible aesthetic result. From start to finish, with all the details so you can practice at home!

French Cross Stitch

This is a very versatile technique to stitch books with several folios. You’ll learn how to make it with soft and hard covers, coated with paper or fabric and even with other stitching styles. It’s perfect for beginners and paper lovers.

Make your own Planner

In this workshop we will make our own planners using the text block designed by estúdio bulhufas. We’ll learn how to make a paperback book with a hard cover and “correntinha” stitching, with a page marker and elastic band. We'll be able to choose the color of all the elements and the icing on the cake will be customising the cover with a name or phrase that we like! We will learn how the universe of hot-stamping works with movable types and metallic plates.

This will be a one of a kind workshop! First, because there will only be one class this year and, second, because Letícia and Tiago will be teaching together in the studio and that doesn't always happen!

A fully personalised planner, made by your own hands, is the perfect Christmas gift!
